A 48-year-old Malaysian man was recently sentenced to jail on Monday for filming his biological daughter in the shower. The incident took place in July 2016 at the Toh Yi Drive flat in Singapore.

According to Straits Time, the father and his then 21-year-old daughter were living together in the flat. On the day of the incident, his daughter was showering in the bathroom when she shockingly discovered a phone taped under the basin.
Upon detaching the phone from the basin and taking a closer look, she realised the phone was in video recording mode. She stopped the recording and browsed through the gallery to look into previous videos.

That’s when she discovered several videos that had previously captured her nude body as she was showering. Besides, the footage also revealed her father’s face who was adjusting the angle of the camera.
After deleting all the videos in the phone, she stormed out to confront her father, to which he admitted to the heinous act.
The father even revealed that the recordings have been going on for over two weeks.
He also admitted that he has some other 20 videos of his daughter bathing stored in another device, which had been misplaced. The videos were for his personal viewing only, he admitted.

Enraged by this unbelievable act, the victim left the flat to stay with her colleague.
Just when she thought the nightmare had come to an end, her father shamelessly went looking for her on April 5 at 3.10am. He threatened his daughter and even attempted to commit suicide. The incident alerted the police and he was arrested on the same day.
In the court, her father was charged for insulting modesty, and using threatening words and behaviours towards his daughter. Surprisingly, he was sentenced to only four months of imprisonment by the judge.
It must be hard for the victim to believe her father would do such a thing. Let’s hope she can recover from the ordeal and move on with her life.
