Malaysian Barista Shines on Global Stage, Clinches Second Place at World Latte Art Championship!

A Malaysian barista from Afloat Coffee Roaster has taken the global stage, bagging second place at the 2026 World Latte Art Championship (WLAC) in San Diego, California.

Malaysian representative Jacky Chang shared the achievement on social media, saying he was proud and overjoyed to be first runner-up, adding that seven months of intense training had been worth it.

In an Instagram post, Chang also shared that despite several disagreements and multiple script changes along the way, it all led to an incredible experience.

“We will not stop here, we’re going to keep pushing even better. Thank you to everyone back home who has given us so much support,” he wrote.

Recalling the moment, he admitted it wasn’t all easy, but said he never felt pressured, as the endless support he received helped everything “flow together on stage.”

Calling it his “dream stage,” he also thanked Malaysians for their endless support.

“All I can say is, Malaysia, we did it again. Thank you for all the incredible support. This isn’t just mine, it belongs to all of us,” he added.
