Confession pages on Facebook are perhaps the most popular platform for uni students to get something off their chests. Most readers do not take the posts seriously, but this particular post quickly blew up and was even brought to the police’s attention.

This whole drama first started when a malicious post was submitted to MMU Confession 2.0. Although the name in the post was censored by the admin, somehow netizens managed to figure out who the censored name was referring to.

“To a certain someone who is currently studying law in her fourth year, you’re actually not ugly, so why would you want to be the third party in someone else’s relationship? We just can’t stand watching it anymore!”

The post was obviously criticising a lady for allegedly ruining a couple’s relationship. Things escalated rather quickly as another post soon popped up on MMU Confession 2.0.

“We know which girl you’re talking about. She’s from Faculty of Law (FOL), isn’t she? This is not a secret anymore as everyone knows about it, and obviously she knew that the guy has a girlfriend too. We’re just watching from aside.”

Then, another post surfaced. This time, religion was brought into the play.

Despite these posts, the victim stood firm saying that she has never interfered with anyone’s relationship before and she was keen to find out who’s behind all these defaming posts. Besides, she wanted the MMU Confession 2.0 page to be closed down.

A post was also published by MMU Confession 2.0 following the incident.

“We hereby upon the advice given by the Investigating Officer together with the Ketua Pegawai of Cawangan Ayer Keroh, urge the statement maker/makers to come forward immediately to facilitate the investigation under S.499 (defamation) of the Penal Code (Act 327) whilst the PDRM is cooperating with the Suruhanjaya Komunikasi Dan Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) to navigate the identity of the individual/individuals concerned.”

“If the statement maker/makers are from other faculties, it should be brought to your attention that the University reserves the right to expel/terminate its undergraduates in pursuant to S.15D of the UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY COLLEGES ACT 1971 (Act 30).”

Yeah that’s a lawyer in the making alright. Let’s hope the dispute can be solved amicably with no one ending up in jail.

So guys, be a responsible netizen and don’t be a keyboard warrior that promotes cyberbullying.
