Teachers have some of the most challenging jobs in the world. Educating the next generation is a calling, but sadly one that not all are called to. Some teachers may have had good intentions, but had them worn away by years of disrespect. Others may have just pursued a vocation and somehow ended up teaching. Either way, it is clear that good teachers are a treasure.

A fresh case of violence by a teacher has been reported in Kuantan, Pahang, according to Malaysiakini. The complaint comes from a Form Four student who alleges his teacher assaulted him after they had an argument over homework.

The student claims that the teacher asked the class to turn in their homework, which the student said he had already handed in. When he informed the teacher of this, the teacher flung an exercise book at him before ordering him to pick it up. The student then turned to a friend, confirming with him that he had in fact turned in the homework.

The teacher then lost his temper and allegedly called the student “k****g” before threatening to hit him.

In retaliation, the student called the teacher “babi” while hitting the classroom door. The noise drew another teacher, who immediately dragged the student out and to the chemistry lab.

In the lab, it is claimed that the teacher lifted up a metal chair, seemingly with the intent to throw it at the student. The student then attempted to escape the lab, which prompted the teacher to tell other students to stop him. When the student was forced back into the lab, the teacher allegedly shut the door and proceeded to assault him.

The student claims the assault left him with abdominal pain and bruises on his face. He then complained to the district education department, and made a police report after school authorities advised him to do so.

Kuantan district police chief Mohamad Noor Yusof has confirmed the report was indeed lodged with the police, and that they are currently investigating the matter.

That is really awful! If the student is telling the truth, the first teacher was in the wrong for calling him such a painful slur, and the second teacher went too far in beating the student. Hopefully the police get to the bottom of this quickly.
