KTMB Is Offering M’sians 25% Discount For All ETS and Intercity Express Service
If you’re planning a road trip across Peninsula Malaysia or even to the Malaysia-Thailand border, then why not consider taking the electric trains services (ETS) or Intercity Express Service by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB)? In fact, there are even more initiatives for you to ride the aforementioned train services this year as KTMB is offering a 25 per cent discount!
Happening from now until 31 December 2023, the discount is part of KTMB’s Sama-Sama Travel Campaign. Moreover, the discounts only apply to Malaysian citizens who purchase a minimum of four adult or child tickets in one transaction by entering the promo code that will be announced.
According to BERNAMA, KTMB group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said that the service has allocated RM2.6 million to passengers who bought discounted tickets through the campaign. Mohd Rani elaborated,
“We give these special discounts to regular and business class ETS travels, and express train services to the east and south. The main reason for giving discounts to passengers is to encourage Malaysians to go on vacation with their families and friends to any destination, and as an initiative to reduce the use of vehicles to avoid traffic congestion, especially during the festive seasons.”
He further asserted that the initiative is also KTMB’s contribution to the government to encourage domestic travel and that the discounted tickets could be purchased at counters, kiosks and via applications and the KTMB website. Besides that, Mohd Rani also confirmed that KTMB plans to launch a loyalty system by the end of the year where passengers will receive points for their purchases.
