In the wave of surging COVID-19 cases across the nation, it is important for all Malaysians to ensure their safety by testing themselves frequently and going under quarantine if they feel symptoms blooming.

But let us all remember that, while it is not ideal, a positive test does in fact mean you have COVID-19.

A recent X post (formerly known as Twitter) has been making waves online after the official page of the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) replied to a user who asked if they had contracted the virus. In the post, the user, who shared a clear image of a positive COVID-19 test, had tagged KKM’s official X account @KKMPutrajaya, to ask if she had the virus.

Replying in a tired and hilarious fashion, KKM simply wrote, “Yes you are positive kid…”. Lacklustre yet exhausting and comical, the reply has since garnered the attention of many Malaysians who couldn’t help but cackle at the governmental department’s response, cracking jokes about it too.

Commenting on KKM’s response, some even added memes to represent how the account must have felt when replying the user.

On the other hand, others also playfully expressed resentment towards KKM for replying that one user but not replying them, even though they had contracted the virus as well.

“I tested positive and you didn’t reply me also… didn’t wish me get well soon… I feel resentment… I feel like going out without wearing a mask,” jokingly wrote one person.

A few users couldn’t help but make jokes at the user’s expense instead, even telling the individual who contracted the virus to “stay positive”.

One person also advised the user to screenshot KKM’s response and send it to their human resources (HR) team at work to attain medical leave.

Some X responders also comically trolled the user who posted the COVID-19 test, saying that while they probably meant the question sincerely, it was positive without a doubt. One person even jokingly said the “C” and “T” symbols stood for “cute” and “not cute”.

“I can’t relate to people who take medical leave before getting sick. I always take medical leave. I plan it really well, and it is enough for me to live comfortably for six months if I’m unemployed,” jested one user.

Nevertheless, many users also expressed how thoroughly enthused they were by KKM’s response, saying that the admin who replied behind the account deserves a raise for such a witty comment.
