The Consumers Association of Kedah (CAKE) has urged the authorities to take strict action against eateries and restaurants that charge exorbitantly for plain water in the state. Moreover, CAKE also urged for plain water to be provided free of charge to consumers as it doesn’t involve any raw material such as sugar or drink flavouring.

As reported by Harian Metro, the association’s president, Mohamad Yusrizal Yusoff said that eateries and restaurants charging up to RM2 for a glass of plain water should not happen as it burdens consumers. He further stressed that traders and restaurant owners should not take advantage by overcharging for plain water as food prices have already increased.

Yusrizal however revealed that thankfully, eateries in the state usually only charge 20 sen for plain water or provide it for free to customers. Nevertheless, the relevant authorities should remain vigilant and not allow businesses to hike up prices unreasonably.

What do you guys think? How much is the plain water at your favourite restaurant? Share your thoughts and experiences with us in the comments!
