At 8.45 pm on 24 May, two LRT trains on the Kelana Jaya line collided.  This collision happened between the KLCC and Kampung Baru LRT stations. A total of 64 people were hospitalised while the train itself had 213 passengers. The victims were sent to nearby hospitals.

In a press conference today (25 May), Prasarana Malaysia Berhad President, Dato Sri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, reminded that the incident was purely an accident and expressed their sympathy towards the victims of the incident. He also apologized to the public over the incident and said that this is the first time such an incident has happened.

After discussing with Prasarana Berhad, all 213 passengers will receive a compensation sum of RM1,000 per person irrespective of their condition. Other than that, those hospitalized will have their medical fees supported by Prasarana as well. However, the amount allocated for each of these victims will depend on their individual conditions.

“For those whose incomes and sources of livelihood are affected by this incident, we are very concerned, thus we will help them for a reasonable number of days until they can work again.”
