Big brain moments aren’t hard to come by, but there are some neat tricks that you just can’t learn without street smarts.

Indonesian content creator Gilang Rahul has been catching the attention of many people both locally and internationally after uploading a TikTok video to his account @ruharu_01. In the video, Rahul used a simple yet smart method of luring away an eclipse of moths from a house.

With moths swarming around a light source outside a home, Rahul turned on his smartphone’s flashlight before asking someone to turn off the house light. Almost immediately after it is switched off, the moths move towards the next light source closest to them – Rahul’s flashlight.

Slowly moving backwards, Rahul walks away from the house, thereby attracting the moths to leave the house as well. When he reaches the outside compound, the moths immediately disperse and move towards the streetlamp. Panning back to light source in the house, Rahul shows how almost every moth was now gone.

Mind-blown by his trick, many TikTok users praised Rahul for getting the moths away from the light source almost instantly. One person even said that this was the most effective bug removal method they had ever seen.

However, the vast majority of commenters took the opportunity to crack some jokes at Rahul’s expense in a light-hearted manner, even calling him the true “Lord of the Flies”.
