There are 5 million smokers in Malaysia, according to NST. Although all the cigarette packages being sold contain some very disturbing pictures of the effects of smoking, most people still don’t care.

These people still smoke away and the people around them still inhale the secondhand fumes. The smokers just plainly ignore the effects by thinking ‘it will never happen to me’.

Well, it can happen to anybody.

One young man who never thought smoking could change his life so drastically was Agun Gunawan from Indonesia.

This unfortunate man used to smoke one pack every two to three days, which is considered light compared to other Indonesians who mostly smoke two to three packs in one day.

In a massively viral post, Agun’s wife wrote on behalf of her partner to explain what happened.

Rossa Ocha wrote,

“Earlier he complained of chest pains, difficulty in breathing and difficulty in moving. It was so scary, the pain in his chest was so severe until he couldn’t do anything.”

So, the couple went to visit a clinic and got medication for his pain. Despite the man finishing the prescribed drugs, the pain was still there.

Fearing it could possibly be cancer, Agun’s family members encouraged him to visit the hospital for proper tests and diagnosis to be carried out. When the results came out, Agun was clear of any active cancer cells in his body.

Rather, he had a collapsed lung!

A collapsed lung, or pneumothorax, is where air escapes the lung but fills up the space in the chest wall instead. Of course, nothing else caused this but Agun’s smoking habits.

The smoker’s case was so severe that doctors had to insert a chest tube to help relieve the pressure on his collapsed lung, letting it re-expand when he breathes.

In just five days, Agun’s post was shared almost 120,000 times with 62,000 likes.

After seeing such a graphic and real case, netizens were scared AF. Wives and girlfriends started tagging their partners asking them to read this post and hopefully learn a lesson.

Finally realising the shocking reality of these horrifying effects, many people expressed their wish to stop smoking. Thank God!

So share this message out to your loved ones and hopefully they too, will see the terrifying reality and change for the better.
