The 61-year-old father of four said due to the ongoing total lockdown implemented to flatten the curve, most small businesses that rely on day-to-day profit are badly affected, compared to bigger companies.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Mr Palas Suparmaniam said he ran a small sundry shop where he sold drinks, biscuits, snacks, and also newspapers. He admitted that he was unsure if he could carry on supporting his family during these difficult times.

According to a tweet posted by @Elill_E, Mr Palas said “I only made RM10 today and my rent for this lot is RM1,200.” Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Mr Palas Suparmaniam said he sent his older son to study in Singapore but unfortunately could not continue supporting him in his studies. He also mentioned that he had a daughter who gave piano lessons to help fund the family but even with that, their financial state is unstable.

In desperate need of financial assistance, he said even his application for Bantuan Sara Hidup (BRIM) was rejected and right now he can only depend on his small business to support his family and pay his rent. Anyone who would like to help out Mr Palas Suparmaniam can donate their funds to his Maybank account shown above.

Update

Mr Palas Suparmaniam’s bank account is currently experiencing some issues at the moment, he is unaware of what might be causing the problem but it might probably be due to the high amount of transactions he’s been receiving. Mr. Palas is currently reaching out to Maybank to try and resolve it.
