So a lot of us spend time fretting how we don’t get to eat at our favourite shop outdoors. Or maybe complaining how we miss having bubble tea, McDonald’s, Starbucks. Or maybe even have too much food and throw it away when our tummy is filled.

And it’s all okay, because we’ve spent our life having the means to get what we want and do what we want, so whenever we lose that, why shouldn’t we complain, right?

Out of being so poor, this starving man picks up rice from the road. So wrong, we don’t get to complain.

The origins of the man is unknown (possibly Thailand), but the pictures managed to flood Facebook in various countries. It showcased how he was collecting rice from the road and putting it into his plastic. It garnered a lot of attention from netizens that felt sympathy, pity and sadness at his state.

One user said “I feel pity. Where can I help him?”, while another said “Got to this point. Very pity”. Another user said “I feel pity. I’m going to cry”.

How lucky are we to have a roof over our heads, food on our tables, clothes on our backs and shoes on our feet, as compared to the millions out there, like this man, that cannot even afford an actual, clean meal.

There is so much that is wrong with the world today, and poverty is one of those mistakes. So even if we can’t help, the least we can do is stop complaining, and be grateful for what we do have, because it may not be much or enough to us, but to that guy picking rice up from the road, it would be so much more than enough.

These heartbreaking images definitely put certain things in perspective and we must truly be grateful with what we have.
