Greedy merchants beware!

The KPDNHEP (Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna) had given their final words in which face masks are NOT allowed to be overpriced.

The 5 types of masks consist of:

  1. Single layered surgical mask (with ear hoop)
  2. Double layered surgical mask (with ear hoop)
  3. Triple layered surgical mask (with ear hoop or headband)
  4. Triple layered surgical mask (with strings)
  5. Respirator mask N95

Also, here are the prices so you know what is considered “overpriced”!

The prices that they have established were determined according to the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (AKHAP 2011) to make sure that none of the merchants are taking advantage of our currently dire situation.

The pricing guidelines were listed as below:

  1. Single layered surgical mask (with ear hoop)
    • Wholesale: RM5.oo (per box)
    • Retail: RM7.00 (per box)
  2. Double layered surgical mask (with ear hoop)
    • Wholesale: RM8.00 (per box)
    • Retail: RM10.00 (per box) / Rm0.20 (per unit)
  3. Triple layered surgical mask (with ear hoop or headband)
    • Wholesale: RM25.00 (per box)
    • Retail: RM0.80 (per unit)
  4. Triple layered surgical mask (with strings)
    • Wholesale: RM30.00 (per box)
    • Retail: RM0.80 (per unit)
  5. Respirator mask N95
    • Wholesale: RM100.00 (per box)
    • Retail: RM6.00 (per unit)

Any rule breaking upon stated masks will be treated with legal actions.

“The Government requests for full cooperation and attention from any of the parties that are involved in the mask business to operate with honesty and continue to be dutiful towards the maximum price that has been established.”

Please note that the prices established were the maximum price that you can place on the stated goods. (So lower is better)
