A teenager decided to take matters into her own hands and burn her house down in Taman Desa Setapak after she was grounded by her father for two days.

The teenager’s 44 year-old father received a call from his neighbours in the afternoon alerting him that his house was ablaze. When the man rushed home, he found his living room on fire according to The New Straits Times.

Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendant Mohammad Roy Suhaimi Sarif told the daily that the police when called to the scene, found that the man’s 16 year-old daughter had in fact set fire to the living room curtains.

According to Mohammad Roy, the father felt he was left with no choice other than to lock his daughter at home as she had been leaving the house without permission, and sometimes even failed to return home.

“The teenager admitted that she started the fire to get her father’s attention. Her father had grounded her, locking her inside the home for the last two days” Mohammad Roy told The NST.

“He felt that the only suitable option was to bar her from leaving the house.”
