In conjunction with National disability day 2020, all Malaysians with official OKU cards issued by the Ministry of Women, Family and Social Welfare Development will be eligible for free rides on the Ampang / Sri Petaling Line LRT, Kelana Jaya Line LRT, Kajang Line MRT and Monorail Line.
One caregiver will also be eligible for free fares alongside the disabled persons they are assisting.
“As Malaysian citizens, the disabled are also a major contributor to the process of national development or ‘nation-building’ to express a world-class community; who cares about all aspects of life to make Malaysia a model country in the eyes of the international community,” they write in their statement.
In addition, disabled persons will also be able to enjoy a 50 per cent discount when riding Rapid KL services outside of this two-day promotional period.
Since the first LRT started operating in 1996, Prasarana has upgraded all facilities including that of trains and buses to be more OKU-friendly.
In 2012, they elevated facilities and added raised platforms to their Ampang line LRT to allow wheelchair movement in and out of the train.
