While Deepavali festivities have mostly concluded, some are still wrapping up celebrations with their families and friends to close the holiday in good spirits.

However, one recent open house event brought cause for concern over fireworks play that didn’t go as planned. Malaysian content creator and designer Mogana Silva Kumar recently shared a clip from her parents-in-law’s house in Kota Warisan just last week, where they carried out Deepavali celebrations.

In the video which was uploaded to her TikTok account @moganasilvakumar, the footage, which was from a closed circuit television (CCTV), caught a moment where a few of her relatives were outside the house lighting fireworks.

While all seemed to go well at first, a small mishap took place when one of the fireworks that was lit bounced into the compound of the house, thereby going off where a couple of people were standing and motorcycles were parked. Luckily, the disruption only went on for 2 seconds before everything subsided.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Mogana stated that the fireworks were tested before being lit, and seemed to have operated properly. However, it happened to bounce into the house for a split second before it shot back to the outside compound once again.

“It was placed correctly so I’m assuming it accidentally shot in the wrong direction. Luckily, it shot back out again. Unfortunately, we were not able to deduce what was the actual cause of it,” said Mogana to WORLD OF BUZZ.

According to the TikTok creator, no one was hurt during the incident.

After seeing the display, many Malaysians expressed their relief that no one was hurt, telling Mogana and her family to be safe in the future. One user even revealed that something similar took place at their house previously, too.
