A viral video recently caught the attention of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), as it allegedly showed a dispute between a member of the public and the department’s counter staff.
The department has since debunked the video, stating that the footage is believed to be AI-generated to create the impression that the incident took place at a JPJ office. The video has since been deleted.

JPJ debunks viral video
In its statement, JPJ said initial checks found that the video had been manipulated by irresponsible parties using elements resembling official government identities, including JPJ’s office layout, visual displays, as well as its name and logo.
The department also stressed that the video had caused confusion and provocation, as well as affected the department’s image and reputation.
“JPJ has issued a denial regarding the viral TikTok video, which contained false claims of a dispute between a member of the public and JPJ counter staff,” the statement read.

Report filed with MCMC
JPJ has warned against the spread of false content and said it has lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.
The department also reminded the public to stay vigilant, avoid sharing unverified information, and only rely on JPJ’s official channels to prevent confusion and the spread of misinformation.
