In today’s live press conference by Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, it was announced that the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be implemented in the dorms of factory workers in Top Glove, Klang starting 17 November to 30 November. This will also involve housing areas surrounding the factory.

Ismail Sabri said the necessary action was taken after the National Security Council was advised by the Ministry of Health who monitored the growth in cases within the area. “Top Glove management will have to ensure that all their factory workers, including dorms that supply the factory with workers to undergo Covid-19 testings.”

“For affected EMCO areas, the Ministry of Health will provide these testings. However, as the factory is yet to be closed down, we advise Top Glove’s management to conduct their own testings and sanitise the premises accordingly,” added the Defence Minister. The SOPs applied in the dorms will follow those established in other EMCO areas.

As of now, there is a total of 215 positive Covid-19 cases recorded from these factory workers.

Stay safe and stay tuned for more updates!
