A video of a man getting a beating of his life for drunk driving and causing an accident went viral yesterday.

The incident was shared on the Facebook page 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians, and it took place nearby Taman Sri Sinar, Kuala Lumpur. We took the liberty of uploading the video here but would like to note that the content may possess vulgar language and violence. Viewer discretion is advised.

According to the Facebook page, the accident saw a white Perodua Viva driving against the flow of traffic on Jalan 6/38A and causing a severe accident on the road.

The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol, was believed to have collided with a car and a motorcycle in the process.

In the video, the driver and the supposed victims were seen arguing when suddenly fists started flying, and he has then beaten to a pulp by two individuals.

Much credit should be given to the individual wearing the red motorcycle helmet who attempted to halt the fight, albeit failing.

We want to note that driving under the influence is punishable with a fine of up to RM20,000 and a minimum jail time of three years under Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Statistically speaking, research done in 2012 found that 23.3% of drivers in fatal accidents were tested positive for alcohol and that a drunk driver is 13 times more likely to cause an accident.

It is simply not worth it to gamble your life or the lives of others when you make the decision to drink irresponsibly and drive.
