PDRM: Drivers Who Change Lanes Without Signalling Can Be Fined Up To RM10k

There are plenty of people who would drive recklessly on the road, causing trouble for other people. One of the most reckless things one can do while driving on the road is not using your indicators when trying to switch lanes. There have been many cases where an accident would happen due to drivers being reckless.

On the 12th of December, PDRM released a statement on their Facebook page for these reckless drivers. In their post they mentioned that drivers who fail to use their indicators when switching lanes, causing accidents to happen can be charged under s.43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Drivers who fail to signal before changing lanes and who cause accidents will be fined for no less than RM5,000 and up to RM10,000. They could also be subjected to a jail sentence that is no more than 12 months”, they said.

It’s best to be careful on the road, fellow Malaysians. Better to drive safely and be wary of what happens on the road than get into unwanted trouble.
