Top 10 anime pantun battles of all time!

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad bin Maslan is well-known for his witty personality and the tendency to randomly whip out a pantun or Bahasa Melayu poem in his speeches.

Well, it seems that Ahmad Maslan may have met his match in the pantun department, which happened to be his colleague at the Finance Ministry, Deputy Finance Minister II Steven Sim Chee Keong.

Like Ahmad Maslan, Steven is also famous for his pantuns and mastery of Bahasa Melayu, even previously writing a Malay book on the legend of Hang Tuah titled “Hang Tuah Adiwira Bangsa“.

For Merdeka Day today, both Deputy Ministers decided to have a bit of fun and made a “pantun battle” video celebrating our country’s 66th Independence anniversary.

Shared by Steven on his official Twitter account, the video has garnered over 66,000 views and more than 1,300 likes in under 4 hours.

In the video, they shared 2 pantuns each regarding the importance of unity which ended with both Deputy Ministers embracing and wishing everyone a happy National Day.

This is actually not the first time the duo exchanged pantuns, as they both previously took to Twitter to share how they’re moving on for the better of the country after an old tweet by Steven criticising Ahmad Maslan resurfaced.

As for the pantun battle, many Malaysians were amused by the video and replied favourably to the tweet.

One commenter thanked both Deputy Ministers for the Merdeka morning entertainment, while another netizen joked that he thought the two would be holding a cooking battle at first.

Besides that, one commenter praised both Steven and Ahmad Maslan for their beautiful Bahasa Melayu usage and wished them a 66th Merdeka Day celebration.
