Public transport services and facilities are vital in the city that is KL. So if there is a failure with the train or the escalators and lifts, then that would be a problem.

Recently, the escalator at the pedestrian walkway near LRT Sri Rampai has finally been repaired, and the MUDA Setiawangsa team went to check it out.

According to a notice next to the escalator, it started operating on June 15 2022.

As can be seen on the MUDA team’s video from their Instagram page, they made it up to the pedestrian bridge but were surprised to see that the walkway heading to Wangsa Walk mall was closed, with the other exit only open to residents of The Hamilton @ Wangsa Maju.

Alas, this meant that those who wish to proceed to the mall, would need to cross the main road instead. The team however observed that the main road is quite dangerous to cross, as the traffic lights were also faulty.

The team stayed for a while and saw many pedestrians who tried using the bridge to get to the mall but had to turn back instead as the path was blocked.

Speaking on the situation, they quoted, “This is like asking for chicken rice, but they did not give the chicken – only rice.”

As this matter concerns the safety and welfare of the public, they believe that DBKL should have a solution to this problem.

The MUDA members are thankful that DBKL had repaired the escalator, however reiterated the fact that pedestrians still need to cross the road to get to the mall – which sort of defeats the purpose of having a pedestrian bridge in the first place.
