Food that’s going bad often times have a sour smell and taste. Which is why when ordering food at a restaurant, you’d know that the food is going bad when taking the first bite.

With that being said, what does it mean if someone tells restaurant staff that the meal they ordered had gone bad after finishing their food?

A restaurant in Penang, The Portugis Grill, took to their Facebook page to share how they had refunded a customer for a meal they had, Buttermilk Chicken, after the customer told them that the chicken had gone bad. But, here’s the twist, the customer had finished eating the chicken.

They wrote, “A customer came to eat our Buttermilk Chicken and claimed that it had gone bad. After they claimed such a thing, I, my sibling, my cousin and my mother tasted it for ourselves and it wasn’t spoiled at all.”

“Try taking a look at the picture. If it was spoiled, why eat the chicken until it’s finished? The customer stood at the counter and then I just gave the customer RM10. A plate of Buttermilk Chicken is priced at RM9.90, I even told them that they can keep the RM0.10 as a donation.”

The customer went to the restaurant to eat at 10pm on Saturday (25 November) and was the only one who complained about the food. Other customers had absolute no problems with their meals.

“I’m lazy to argue, so I just gave them the RM10. Think for yourselves, dear customers. Next time, if they food has gone bad, just return the food to us. This wasn’t it, they finished their food and got RM10 back. It’s okay, I’ll take it as it wasn’t my blessing (to receive the money),” they added.

Honestly, if the food we order at a restaurant has gone bad, we wouldn’t take more than one bite before informing the staff.

What would you have done if you were in the restaurant staff’s shoes? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
