The Bukit Bendera MP praised the professionalism and patriotism of the Tamil School community and the Indian community in Malaysia in respecting the national identity, especially the Jalur Gemilang.

Through a post on TikTok, Syerleena Rashid stated that, so far, there have been no reports or incidents of the Malaysian flag being displayed upside down at any Tamil school nationwide.

She said this in support of the views of a TikToker, Thaqib Shaker, who also commented on the issue on social media.

In case you missed it, an SJKC in Port Dickson went viral for a Jalur Gemilang blunder, in which the Malaysian flag was hoisted upside down, which was said to be the handiwork of an OKU staff member at the school. The school immediately issued a public apology following the matter, but many thought that stricter actions should be taken against the school.

In response to Thaqib’s social media post, Syerleena said that,

“What Thaqib said is also true, we have never heard of upside-down Jalur Gemilang cases in any Tamil school in Malaysia, right?

“I’ve checked on Google and it’s not there. So congratulations to all Tamil schools for being very professional and careful with the symbol of our country’s identity. Similarly, we have never heard of cases of flag desecration by Indians,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Syerleena also praised the patriotic attitude of Malaysian Indians and said that they should be used as an example to other communities in safeguarding the country’s dignity.

What do you think of her take in this matter?
