Can You Believe It, AEON Celebrates 36th Anniversary in Malaysia!

AEON Retail is humbled for the support of Malaysian to the group by celebrating its anniversary in Malaysia with the theme ‘AEON Di Hatiku’ from 24th September until 15th November 2020. This celebration marks 36th years of AEON CO. (M) BHD. which was formerly known as Jaya Jusco, and 8th years of AEON BiG (M) SDN. BHD. which operates the hypermarket business. 

AEON history started in Japan in 1758 where the founders were selling the products by peddling from town to town and emphasizing the importance of understanding the customer, hence, the company philosophy has always been “Customer First”. Despite all the challenges and industry revolutions for the past 262 years, AEON still stands strong, especially in Malaysia. From a humble beginning, it grew to more than 150 retail stores all over Malaysia which consists of AEON Store, AEON Mall, AEON Big, AEON MaxValu and AEON Wellness. Offering product and services that range from groceries and daily necessities to beauty and health. 

Shafie Shamsuddin, Chief Executive Officer of AEON Retail Malaysia said, “This anniversary is very special to us as we are facing a lot of challenges mainly due to the pandemic, where it was not only affecting our businesses, but also the spirit of our AEON warriors, our frontliners that serving our customer in the mall and stores. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all AEON stakeholders especially our Warriors who have worked tirelessly despite the concerns of the Covid-19, as well as our loyal Customers that continuously provide us with the support and strength throughout this journey.” 

Reacting to the increase of Covid-19 cases for the past one week and as part of its corporate citizen agenda, AEON will be selling five layers re-washable face mask at the price of RM15 only for all AEON customers. RM1 from every sale of the mask will be channelled into AEON latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Tabung AEON Di Hatiku, with a target collection of RM 1 million pool of fund. The fund will be used to subsidize 366 local entrepreneurs to start up a dropship business for the Small and Medium-size Enterprises (SMEs) product. This CSR campaign acts as the platform to encourage all of AEON customer to contribute to those who are facing difficulties and challenges, with hopes to connect the heart of the customer with the people in need. This is aligned with the theme of this year anniversary of AEON Di Hatiku. AEON will be collaborating with the government agencies and local communities to identify eligible recipients for Tabung AEON Di Hatiku.
