The daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia hits close to 9,000 today (8 July) with 8,868 cases nationwide. This is a sharp increase from yesterday’s 7,097 cases.

The states with the highest number of infections are Selangor, 4,152 and Kuala Lumpur, 1,133, followed by Perak, 543 and Kedah, 360. The Klang Valley as a whole records 5,285 cases.

The infectivity rate is also following an upward trend with an r-naught value of 1.07 as of 7 July, meaning that one infected person can spread the virus to 1.07 other people.

Meanwhile, a total of 375,842 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine was administered yesterday (7 July), which is the highest number recorded in a day so far, reported BERNAMA. This brings the total number of vaccinations nationwide to 10,036,361.

As the vaccination process speeds up, hopefully, the number of cases will begin to drop. Please continue to stay home and be extra cautious if you need to go out.
