In this day and age, social media has become EVERYTHING to most people. Although most of us won’t admit it, we do love seeing people interact with our posts. The more likes and comments, the better! It makes us feel subconsciously good about ourselves. It is the unfortunate truth – don’t be shy admitting it!

Remember when brands hold giveaways? It usually requires to like their posts, comment and share. Usually, the person with the highest amount of likes on their post or comment would be the winner of the giveaway.

Not anymore! It does not take popularity or high engagement on your posts to win anymore. No more begging your friends to like your posts in order to win. In fact, it is the exact opposite.

A new trend has been circulating on Twitter where multiple brands and small businesses have been organizing giveaways and contest in a very unique way. Instead of getting a significant amount of likes, comments or retweets, they want ZERO likes, ZERO comments and ZERO retweets instead!

Even Domino’s Pizza hopped on the trend too!

Twitter users have been begging their friends and followers to not sabotage their chances of winning, demanding them to not engage with their tweet.

Malaysian actress and entrepreneur, Neelofa, too hopped on the bandwagon but failed the contest as her followers kept engaging with her Retweets.

Such a great marketing technique! But also an unfortunate and risky way of ruining friendships… Oh, well!

Do try your luck and participate in these contests and let us know in the comment section how it went for you!
