Good news! Our water troubles will soon come to an end because the upgrading works at Sungai Selangor Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant have been completed as of 11 pm yesterday (24 April 2019).

The Malay Mail reports that Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said in a statement that the plant will be reactivated following the completion. So, the treated water will be distributed to the main reservoirs and the main distribution system before water is restored to the customers.

That said, the process of water access restoration will take about 24 hours. In their statement, Syabas was quoted as saying,

“The supply recovery will vary from one area to another depending on the geographical location and altitude of customers’ premises.”

Syabas also advised their customers to keep tabs on the latest information on the water supply by constantly checking for updates on their website. Besides that, you can also check for updates via their Facebook, Twitter, and their application – which is available for download on Google Play and App Store.

On that note, if the water supply has yet to return to your area, you can request for relief water supply assistance by sending SMS Tanker <Name> <Address> to 15300 or Whatsapp at 019-281 6793 or 019-280 0919.

Prior to this, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari explained that the water cut – which affected 577 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor – would not last for over three days. Instead, the water supply is expected to return within 48 hours.

Well, this piece of news is definitely music to our ears! If you know anyone who’s affected by the water cut, don’t forget to share this information with them.
