An 80-year-old man accidentally killed his 50-year-old son in a freak accident in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday (July 25) at about 10am.

According to a report by Guang Ming Daily, the elderly man had driven home after receiving a call from his son about his lorry, which broke down when he was about to head to work. His son requested that the elderly man, who was nearby, help him jump-start his lorry using his car.

However, while jump-starting his son’s lorry, the elderly man accidentally stepped on the car’s accelerator, trapping his son between the lorry and the car, and leading to fatal injuries.

“After the father arrived at the scene, he allegedly stepped on the accelerator by mistake, causing the car to suddenly rush forward and trap his son, who was standing nearby, between the car and the lorry,” a neighbour revealed.

The neighbour further shared that the elderly man has since locked himself in his home due to extreme grief and guilt from accidentally killing his son, and has refused to see anyone.

“I feel sorry for what happened. This is something no one wants to happen,”

“The lorry and the car involved in the incident both belonged to the deceased. The car has been taken to the police station to assist the authorities in their investigation,” they added.

Our sincerest condolences to the deceased’s loved ones.
