In case you didn’t realise, it’s already less than a month until Lunar New Year and during this period, many people take the opportunity to have reunion dinner with their family and friends. Plus lots of additional feasting on those awesome snacks!

Most of us prefer to eat out during this period as it is easier and more convenient than cooking a whole nine course meal for 10 people or more. Many restaurants take this opportunity to cater for these reunions with delicious set menus but with so many options out there, we decided to narrow down a few choices for you. Welcome the Year of the Dog with Yee Sang and huat ah!

 

1. Tai Thong Group

If you live around Klang Valley, chances are you would have dined at a Tai Thong outlet before or even attended a wedding dinner there before. Having a large number of outlets dotted all around Klang Valley, their food is good and prices are reasonably affordable. They also have a number of outlets that sell pork and some that do not have pork so just choose whichever location is convenient for you. This chain of restaurants have a few different concepts to their outlets with some of them being an elegant, stylish place for a sit-down dinner while some are more casual. Whichever one you pick, you know you’re in good hands as they specialise in live seafood that is cooked in just the way you want it. Yummy! Prices for their set menu varies according to location, starting from RM739 per table of 10 pax.

Oriental’s chain of restaurants is famed for their great dining experience and innovative food creations that keeps their customers coming back for more. Some of their more popular restaurants include the Ming Room in Bangsar, Maju Palace in Maju Junction Mall and Oriental Pavilion in Petaling Jaya. Their set menu for 10 people starts at RM928 onwards.

4. Grand Imperial Group

Grand Imperial Group of restaurants have a strong history in Malaysia with at least 10 years of history serving fine Chinese cuisine and has since grown to be an established name in the industry. They even have an outlet in London! If Chinese set dinners doesn’t suit your tastebuds, they have steamboat menus if you want to try something different. The steamboat menus are priced at RM588 onwards for four people while the set dinner starts from RM888 for 10 people.

Hong Kong is known for their tantalising cuisine and Elegant Inn does this to perfection. They serve well-prepared and superbly tasty Cantonese fare in a cosy and warm environment. They use quality ingredients with some of it freshly air-flown all the way from Hong Kong, Japan and Australia for that authentic taste. This Chinese restaurant is quite the hidden gem as they are tucked away in very unexpected area in OUG. Make sure to keep an eye out for a big building that houses a market! It hasn’t been opened for long but has already started making their name in the industry for their delicious food. The prices for the 10 pax set menu starts from RM1188 per table.

PUTIEN started humbly as a coffee shop in Singapore’s Kitchener Road in 2000 and has since became a household name around the world with more than 20 outlets. This chain of restaurants is famed for their delicious food from Putian in Fujian province, China that is prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. They are proud recipients of various dining awards including one Michelin star so coming here for your reunion dinner is definitely a good choice! prices for set dinner for 10 people starts at RM738.

This restaurant has a rather distinctive exterior, it looks more like a school instead of a restaurant. Don’t worry though, they sure know their food because customers keep going back for more. They started as a little stall back in 1983 and has made quite a name for themselves in Malaysia. Their set menu prices for Chinese New Year dinners starts at RM668 for 10 people.
