Most of the people grow sick at the sight or even the smell of blood. However, an accident 25 years ago had motivated a man to save as many lives as he can by donating blood.

You might wonder, what’s so special about donating blood? It happens on a daily basis.

One thing that makes Ibrahim Mat Taib different from others is the fact that he has been doing so, 2 times a month since 1997! This means, as of today, the 53-year-old man has been donating blood 166 times!

And no, he has no plans to stop anytime soon as he revealed his intention of donating blood 200 times before he reaches the age of 58. This is certainly a kind of commitment that you don’t always hear about.

He “owes” the people his blood

25 years ago, his friend met with an accident and lost a lot of blood. To make things worse, the stock of blood was scarce in the hospital as they were in dire need of it to save his friend. Ibrahim immediately decided to donate his blood for the very 1st time to save the life of his friend.

Little did he know, the decision he made more than 2 decades ago would trigger his desire to save more lives by regularly donating blood.

“Since then, my desire to donate blood grew stronger and if I don’t do so, I feel uncomfortable as if I owe the people in need of blood to survive”, he explained.

Ibrahim, who is from Kota Bharu, Kelantan visits the hospital or any blood donation campaign around the district fortnightly to donate blood in order to keep the “momentum” going. He also expressed his gratitude for not having any chronic diseases and still being able to save lives as a bag of blood can potentially save up to 3 lives.

“I’m not doing this for reward, nor do I expect appreciation from anyone. I am voluntarily saving lives”, he assured.

They say not all heroes wear capes. We admire Ibrahim’s commitment to saving lives by donating his blood and his donations will certainly come in handy!
