Five people were compounded RM4,000 each after they were found gathered for a feast to celebrate the birth of a grandchild at a house in Kampung Sungai Lalang, Selangor.

Based on a report by Harian Metro, Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah shared that the five individuals consisted of three men and two women, aged between 19 to 61.

He added that the Covid-19 monitoring team from the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD) received information from the public in regards to the gathering.

“Upon arrival at the location, the five individuals involved were found to be gathering for a feast. They were not adhering to physical distancing and were not wearing face masks,”

“They were all then taken to the IPD Kuala Muda to be compounded,” he said.

The results of the investigation found that all the individuals involved lived around the district, and were holding a thanksgiving feast to celebrate the birth of the host’s grandchild. The rest were invited guests and friends of the host.

“All of them were described to have committed offences and were issued a compound of RM4,000 each for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0.”

“They were compounded in accordance with Article 9 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021. All the individuals were told that they will have to pay the compounds imposed within 14 days of the date issued at the District Health Centre,” he added.

With the implementation of the third full lockdown throughout this pandemic, we should avoid going out for non-essential reasons to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
