Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has yesterday reminded Malaysians that are currently overseas or planning to travel abroad to continue stay vigilant against the Covid-19 virus. Taking to his official Twitter and Instagram accounts, Khairy reminded Malaysians oversea, especially those in the United Kingdom (UK) to always act as if you’re still in Malaysia and always wear a face mask when going out.

On his official Twitter account, Khairy also urged Malaysians to not follow the “lackadaisical attitude” the UK has towards mask wearing, saying,

“Malaysians going to countries like the UK should not follow the UK’s lackadaisical attitude towards mask wearing. Mask up like you’re in Malaysia.”

The tweet has since gone viral with over 11,700 likes and over 5,800 retweets as of the time of writing. While the tweet comes seemingly out of the blue, the Health Minister put a bit of context behind his statement on his Instagram account.

Posting a screenshot of the above tweet in an Instastory, Khairy seemingly aimed his tweet at Malaysians that posted photos of themselves in London on their Instagram accounts without adhering to SOPs by saying:

“Yes I’m looking at all you Malaysians posting your London picture on IG with no SOP,”

He then took a shot at the United Kingdom again by saying, “Jangan ikut perangai depa.” which is colloquial Bahasa Malaysia for “Do not follow their attitude.”
