Many changes have taken place since GE14, and here’s another one!

Perlis Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has reportedly accepted nearly 4,000 former UMNO members since Pakatan Harapan won the 14th General Election on May 9 2018, according to The Star.

The Chairman of PPBM, Ameir Hassan said that the party had accepted approximately 1,000 membership applications from former UMNO members for the Arau and Padang Besar Divisions respectively.

At a Perlis PPBM thanksgiving event today (16 July), he told reporters that the party accepts membership applications from anyone.

“Anyone can join PPBM. If their application is rejected at the division or state level, they can apply directly to the party headquarters.”

However, he claimed that the membership application from Datuk Ismail Kassim, who is the former Arau UMNO division deputy chief and Tambum Tulang assemblyman, has been rejected as he was alleged to have criticised Pakatan Harapan during GE14.

According to The Sun, Ameir handed over the Perlis PPBM membership approval letter to former Arau MP Datuk Seri Syed Razlan Putra Jamalullail at the event today. This was witnessed by National Higher Education Fund Corporation chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Arau Pribumi division deputy chief Maton Din.

Besides, PPBM has extended its wings to Labuan with the establishment of pro-tem committee and branches on the island.

Pro-tem committee chairman, Asroh Sukardi said the party now had almost 900 members, and that the first branch of Taman Perumahan Mutiara is to be formed next week.

“We established the Pribumi division here on May 18, initially with only committee members. But it is fast increasing to almost 900.”

The party would be working closely with other Pakatan Harapan component parties and members of Parti Amanah Negara, PKR, DAP and Warisan to address the issues affecting the people’s well-being to Federal Government leaders.
