A young Malaysian couple was robbed inside their car while filming a mukbang challenge, but the incident did not end there.

The couple was later subjected to sexual violence, and the 19‑year‑old woman was sexually assaulted.

The distressing incident occurred on 6 January in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, as the couple had purchased burgers for a mukbang challenge and were sitting inside their car. Another vehicle subsequently stopped beside them, and the driver, who claimed to be a security guard, accused the couple of behaving immorally inside the vehicle.

He allegedly brandished a baton and warned that their “immoral activities” could lead to them being reported. He then confiscated both victims’ identification cards (ICs) and forced them to purchase perfumes he was selling, amounting to RM260.

When the woman told him she could not afford the amount, the man allegedly compelled her to transfer the money before taking both victims’ mobile phones. The ordeal did not stop there.

The suspect then allegedly forced the couple to engage in sexual acts in his presence, before sexually assaulting the woman

Traumatised and fearing for their safety, the couple complied with his demands. According to reports by Sin Chew Daily and China Press, the incident lasted about five hours. The suspect allegedly claimed to have used the same modus operandi on other victims before fleeing the scene.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) later arrested the 24‑year‑old suspect.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, Wangsa Maju District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police received a report on the case on 7 January at 6: 23 PM. The suspect was arrested in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, and has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.

He is being investigated under Sections 392 and 377C of the Penal Code.
