When it comes to national treasures, former world squash champion and Malaysian icon Nicol David stands tall as one of the most brilliant athletes not only to exist in our country, but across the globe as well. And recently, this legendary player had the chance to meet another world legend in what can truly be described as a magical night.

In an Instagram photo shared to the squash player’s page @nicoldsquash, Nicol shared an image of her meeting former professional footballer and businessman David Beckham.

“It was a legendary night meeting David Beckham! Out of words and so happy! I will never forget it,” wrote Nicol in the caption of her post.

Nicol also shared a moment of the duo’s interaction to her Instagram Story, where the sports legends chatted briefly before taking their picture together.

Absolutely losing their minds in the comments section, many Malaysians couldn’t help but geek out over two world champions converging for a single photo. Nothing short of legendary for both of their respective fields in sports, to say the least. Some of the lauding comments included those from Malaysian businesswoman Marion Caunter and Colombian squash player Miguel Rodriguez.

On the other hand, many people also commented on the fact that the meeting was also an honour for Beckham, who had the opportunity to meet an eight-time world champion in Nicol.

“It’s his special and legendary day too, meeting the women’s squash G.O.A.T (greatest of all time)”, wrote one user in the comments section.

Having touched down in Malaysia on 31 January, Beckham also took to his Instagram page @davidbeckham to share an image of himself in front of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, where he not only praised the view, but the city of Kuala Lumpur altogether.

According to a report by New Straits Times (NST), the footballer came to Malaysia to officiate the World of the Predator Exhibition for sportswear brand Adidas.

Hope you have a fantastic trip in Kuala Lumpur, David Beckham! Malaysia’s food, culture, and people are simply unmatched.
