Two apartment blocks in Kuala Lumpur were evacuated following a landslide

104 housing units in two apartment blocks in Taman United, Seputeh, have been ordered to be evacuated following a landslide on a slope near the location.

The call about the disaster was made to the fire station at 11:02 AM, and Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Armdan Mahat, said that the landslide on the slope was approximately 60 metres long.

Two cars and several motorcycles were damaged

One of the cars was completely buried. The evacuation order was made as a result of discussions at the location with representatives of the Seputeh Parliamentary office and engineers from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), according to its Facebook post.

“This is due to the fact that there is still ground movement, and the rain was still pouring heavily. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths have been reported so far,” Armdan said.

“The fire department is still at the location to monitor any ground movement from time to time.”
