A 19-year-old college student and her boyfriend have been arrested to assist with investigations following the discovery of a newborn baby girl’s body in a toilet bowl at a rental house in Taman Setia Mutiara, Kluang, Johor.
During a media conference today (30 July), Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the Kluang District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report at around 1 PM on Wednesday (29 July) after the female student was admitted to Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom.
Doctors found another fetus in the woman’s womb
According to Ab Rahaman, the student contacted one of her teachers after delivering the baby before she was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Medical examinations later confirmed that she had given birth, and doctors also discovered that she was still carrying another baby girl in her womb.
Further investigations at the rental house where the student was staying led police to the discovery of the body of a newborn baby girl inside a toilet bowl. Initial examinations revealed several stab wounds on the infant’s body.
However, police said the exact cause of death has yet to be determined and remains under investigation.
19-year-old boyfriend arrested
Following the discovery, police arrested the woman’s 19-year-old boyfriend, who is also a college student, to assist with the investigation. An application to remand the suspect was scheduled to be made at the Kluang Magistrate’s Court today.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, as well as Section 315 of the Penal Code for acts intended to cause the death of a newborn.
