Food banks are mushrooming everywhere these days, where basic provisions and non-perishable items are supplied to people in need.

While food banks are a welcoming sight for families that are hit hard by never-ending lockdowns, it is the sight of food bank heists that riles Malaysians, especially in a recent video which saw food bank items aimed to feed 100 struggling Malaysians, getting cleaned out in mere minutes.

In the one-minute video, a large group of people can be seen disregarding SOPs, pushing and shoving each other in their effort to clean out food made available at the food bank.

The situation clearly got out of hand, which prompted an organizer to step in and control the situation.

“Do not push and shove!”

What’s more disgusting is the fact that many took away more than they should have, with packets of sugar, cooking oil and rice being taken away.

Commenting on the incident, netizens were indeed disgusted by what they saw.

“These are all examples of people who are greedy, thinking only about restocking stuff at home.”

“It should not be like this. They need to think about those who truly need it. This defeats the purpose of having food banks.”

Come on people, we are better than this!
