What course did you do for your tertiary education and how does it rank on the following list?

BERNAMA has published an infographic of the 10 most competitive courses in Malaysia with information from the Ministry of Higher Education. Well, what can we say other than “we’re not surprised that it’s those courses”?

Let’s take a look at the list.

Competitive Courses

Basically, it’s all courses that seem very difficult and something that will definitely make an individual’s parents proud.

However, some netizens who have gone through the courses and worked in the industries mentioned advised youths to avoid those courses.

Job 2

“Dear youths, don’t aim to be an engineer. The job is bad, the salary is little, and getting scolded at work is a common occurrence. The name is glamorous but the reality is really bad. If you stay at home and plant chilli via fertigation, you can earn more than an engineer.”

Job

“Accounts students without ACCA will only earn minimum wage.”

“My friend with a degree said so too. After 5 years of studying, they only got RM1.5k salary.”

Job 6

“6 to 10 is not only highly competitive, but they offer low income as well. It’s a scam, trust me.”

However, there are people who say that they are in those courses and it is still manageable.

Job 4

Some helpful netizens also shared some courses that are in high demand and more relevant to the current job landscape.

Job 5

“Agriculture is where the money is at.”

Job 3

Well, all we can say is that it depends on the person and the opportunities that they manage to get. There are many people with jobs from the list that are successful and happy with what they do while others who jumped ship are doing well.

So at the end of the day, it all comes down to you. If you would like to know more about a certain job but don’t know who to ask, we would recommend you to check out Malaysian Pay Gap on Instagram.
