Imagine scrolling through online selling platforms for good deals and stumbling upon two newborn babies that are up for sale. Before you think this is a joke, it’s not, because that’s what many consumers encountered last week. Who the…

According to NST, a young Malaysian couple allegedly tried to sell off their newborn twins through an online selling platform. The horrifying advertisement sparked outrage among netizens who then circulated it on social media and WhatsApp groups.

In the ridiculous advertisement that said “twins to let go”, the babies aged between three and six months will be sold off to the right buyer who can fork out a sum of RM15,000.

As expected, this incident blew up and instantly got the police’s attention. The teenage boy and his girlfriend were picked up on Monday night for selling their babies.

“The 20-year-old woman was detained at her house in Setapak around 8pm while her boyfriend who was two years younger was nabbed an hour later at his house in Ampang.”

“The suspects were believed to have advertised their four-month-old twins for RM15,000 on a website on Friday,” City police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said, adding that the duo were apprehended in two different spots.

The babies have since been handed over to the Social Welfare Department while the case is being investigated under Section 48 of the Child Act 2001.

Although the advertisement has now been removed, netizens still couldn’t wrap their heads around this incident. Many were baffled by the fact that this advertisement even made it to the public in the first place.

“I didn’t know it was this easy to post an ad. Don’t the staff go through the ads first before they go live on the website?” a netizen questioned.

“Had they (the young couple) been taught about proper sex education, they would probably use condoms. Now they screwed up their lives and the babies’ as well,” another Facebook user commented.

Well, we’re glad that the ad had garnered the attention of PDRM before the couple actually found a buyer. Honestly, what’s happening to society nowadays?
