Here’s a situation: What would you do if the person in front of you at an ATM accidentally forgets to take their money?

One man in Puchong found himself in that very situation, after an elderly uncle who was withdrawing money at an ATM in Taman Puchong Perdana had accidentally walked away without taking his money!

The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page shared CCTV footage of the incident, which caused a stir online among netizens.

Pity… he forgot to take the money. Blue shirt guy, please return the money to the pak cik,” 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians captioned their post.

In the video, the uncle can be seen using the ATM while blue shirt guy comes in and queues up behind him. The elderly man then pulls out his ATM card from the machine and immediately walks away, leaving his money hanging out the slot.

As blue shirt guy attempts to slot in his card, he notices the money, quickly pulls it out and appears to put it into his pocket. He then pulls out the uncle’s transaction receipt and places it on top of the ATM.

The man continuously looked out the convenience store window, supposedly looking out for the elderly uncle. He then puts his own card into the ATM, keys in his pass-code and immediately cancels the transaction before walking away.

Netizens have since shared advise on how the uncle could get his money back, if blue shirt guy didn’t already.

Many pointed out that since the blue shirt guy inserted his card into the ATM, the bank would be able to trace his identity.

“Report to the bank. There is CCTV footage, you can recover the money. If the blue shirt guy keeps quiet and uses the money, it counts as a crime.”

Atm 2

“The bank can trace the blue shirt guy’s account details, and can claim back the money from him and enter it into the pak cik’s account.”

Others jokingly pointed out that finders, keepers.

“Blessing.”

We genuinely hope that blue shirt guy had walked away from the ATM to return the money to the elderly man. After all, it’s only the right thing to do!
