A video circulating on social media documenting a few motorcyclists being involved in an accident has caused outrage among many netizens.

The 50-second dashcam footage showed four motorcyclists who lost control before skidding and falling due to the slippery road. Many believed that the incident was caused by an oil spill.

At the start of the video, a motorcyclist in the middle lane was seen falling after losing control of his vehicle due to the slippery road. Another two motorcyclists in front of him also lost their balance and fell, followed by one more rider who skidded ahead.

Thankfully, all the motorcyclists survived with several other road users stopping their vehicles and helping them.

The incident that happened on 2 January on a road from Jalan Kuching heading towards the Kuala Lumpur City Center, has caused netizens to be concerned about their safety on the road as they worry that such a life-threatening situation could happen again in the future.

After the dashcam footage circulated on a Facebook group, many voiced out their opinions stating that the authorities would not take any action on the matter. Some daringly commented saying that the authorities would probably only take action if the accident only involved dignitaries.

Although many assumed that it was an oil spill that caused many motorcyclists to skid on the road, authorities later commented saying there was no report made from the accident due to an oil spill.

As reported by Harian Metro, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkifly Yahya said the police have yet to receive a report from any party regarding the incident.

“The matter has been reviewed and we find that no report has been received,” he said.
