Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim has always been known as the icon of the Johor Southern Tigers (JDT). Not only does he own the team but he has always been the brains behind their operations.

However, it appears the TMJ is taking a step back.

In a statement shared via the JDT Facebook page, he announced that he will no longer be running the show of the football team as he will be handing that responsibility onto his team’s advisors.

He explained that, “Due to my other responsibilities and commitments, I have decided to take a step back and handover the control of JDT FC to the top management of the club.”

“I wish the club and everyone all the best.”

People are speculating as to why he’s leaving the football club behind

Considering the fact that the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, is next in line to take the throne and title of Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA), netizens are assuming that the prince is preparing to take his father’s position as the Sultan of Johor.

“TMJ will take on a greater responsibility as the acting Sultan of Johor once Tunku’s father ascends the throne as YDPA,” commented a user.

Another said, “TMJ is going to become the Sultan of Johor. His father is to become the Agong. The current Agong is reaching the 5 year mark. That’s the truth.”

Jdt 2

“If you follow the rotation system, the Sultan of Johor will be appointed as YDPA. TMJ will be the acting Sultan and administrator of the state of Johor. Daulat Tuanku.”
