A netizen who goes by the username, @joxxanna took to Twitter yesterday to share about an elderly couple living in poverty at a dilapidated house that doesn’t even have access to electricity or a steady water supply. The saddest part is that one of them is blind and both of them are almost 80 years old.

She said that she discovered the couple through a story circulated on WhatsApp and “when I read it, I started crying.” The story was shared by Ummie Syuhada, one of the volunteers that went to the elderly house located in Batang Ai, Sarawak. The netizen proceeded to share a series of heartbreaking photos about the couple and their terrible living conditions.

In the Twitter thread, the netizen shared the conversation between her and Ummie Syuhada regarding the elderly couple. She mentioned that the couple has asked the government for assistance and one of the staff even suggested that they submit their photos for the application. Unfortunately, they don’t even own a smartphone that they can use.

The netizen went on to share how the couple lives in a house without electricity and they only get water supply from a nearby river. Some even asked whether they have children. Sadly, their children live quite far from them and are living in adversity, just like them.
