Multiple dashcam footages have recently circulated online, showing two different drivers allegedly using a similar modus operandi—intentionally hitting reversing cars and then demanding compensation.

In a viral Facebook post, the user estimated that, to date, over 20 people have fallen victim to the duo’s scheme, and claimed the pair has managed to “earn” over RM10,000 through this tactic. These staged accidents are said to have occurred in various parts of Puchong, with most incidents reported in Bandar Puteri Puchong 2. Here’s how the scam works:

The duo—a man and a woman—allegedly collide with reversing vehicles on purpose, even when the reversing driver has already braked to give way.

The person who shared the post said the incident happened to him in March this year. Just a few weeks later, a friend of his experienced a similar situation at the same location. In each case, the reversing driver is blamed for damaging the duo’s car, which already had dents or damage prior to the incident.

He also shared screenshots of comments from other victims who claimed to have encountered the same duo in different areas around Puchong.

“The duo will say there’s no need to lodge a police report and insist on settling the matter privately.”

“They scammed me out of RM1,000—they wanted cash!” said one of the victims.

According to the post, the duo is often seen driving three different vehicles:

  • A white Honda
  • A silver Honda HR-V
  • A black Proton Saga

The poster said they shared the information to raise awareness and hopes the police will take action against the suspects.

To those in the Puchong area—have you heard about this or spotted the duo?
