You know that feeling when you’re standing in a crowd as your favourite musician serenades the night away as though they were doing it just for you? Yeah, you’ll probably never feel that again because crowds have become a huge problem as it can be a contributor to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to see your favourite bands and musicians live ever again, in fact, some countries are already doing their best to fill the void of concerts and festivals while still ensuring that audiences adhere to physical distancing rules.

For example, Ian Dempsey took to his Twitter page to showcase the UK’s first physical-distanced concert.

He wrote, “The UK’s first socially distanced gig happened in Newcastle last night. 500 separately raised platforms, each accommodating up to five people from the same family/household. Hand sanitizer station and mini fridge included. Singing allowed too!”

And honestly, it looks hell’a cool!

Gig 3

Rock singer-songwriter Sam Fender performed during this first show at Newcastle’s pop-up Virgin Unity Arena where the platforms were all placed at least two meters apart, as according to Vulture.

Audience members also have to wear face masks when they walk around the site or when they leave their platforms to buy concessions.

Gig 4

Sure, physical-distanced gigs won’t give you the same feeling as elbowing your way to the front of the crowd to show your favourite artist you care (I love you, Rihanna), but at least you still get to experience live music at it’s best.

We can’t wait for this to finally come to Malaysia.
