A mother of five in Selangor is struggling to care for her children, leaving her 3-month-old baby severely malnourished.

The family’s situation came to light after Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang, shared that financial hardship had become so severe that the mother was forced to feed her baby ‘Teh O’ (black tea) because she couldn’t afford formula.

According to the post, the family is currently living in a bare rental unit in Taman Selayang Segar, Jalan Selayang Segar, Batu Caves.

“A 27-year-old mother of five is struggling to care for her children. Her 3-month-old baby is suffering from severe malnutrition. With no money to buy infant formula, the mother has been giving her baby Teh O instead,” the post read.

Uncle Kentang also revealed that the family had run out of cooking gas and had been unable to pay their RM900 monthly rent.
