After news of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor being sued over RM60 million worth of jewellery broke out, a recent statement has been issued through Rosmah’s lawyers claiming that the jewellery sent by the Lebanese jeweller earlier this year (2018) were merely for her viewing, and that she did not purchase any of the items, reported The Star.

“We would like to stress that the jewellery itemised in Global Royalty’s statement of claim were sent to our client for her viewing.”

“The allegations being spread that the jewelleries listed by Global Royalty were purchased, and that too bought using stolen funds, is therefore completely baseless and untrue.”

“We shall in due course, be taking the necessary measures to protect our client’s interest.”

However, a high-class international jewellery supplier, who has exclusive access to the list of clientele, has claimed that the former Prime Minister’s wife is its “long-standing” customer, as reported by The Star.

A statement issued by the Lebanese jewellery firm claims that they have been delivering jewellery to Rosmah on a “consignment basis” at her request, and she would issue payment for the jewellery she selected while the remaining pieces would be returned.

“The defendant (Rosmah) would personally receive the jewellery herself and/or via her representatives/agents in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai or Singapore.”

“This was the natural course of all transactions between the plantiff (Global Royalty) and the defendant. All dealings were done with vide the plaintiff’s representative and/or salesperson,” the statement said.
