Scammers are allegedly using the obituary of the Petaling Jaya school stabbing victim to commit fraud

The 44-year-old mother of the deceased student explained that the QR code in her daughter’s obituary, which is meant to receive condolences donations, has been tampered with and switched to a QR code that directs the money into the account of scammers.

She appealed to members of the public who wish to donate to do so in person at the funeral home to avoid sending the money to the scammers.

Qr 1

The deceased student’s wake is taking place at the Nirvana Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Wake for the victim will be conducted for 5 days

Additionally, she explained that she chose to conduct a 5-day wake for her daughter due to the Buddhist belief that consciousness still exists after death; hence, a 5-day wake allows the deceased time to rest in peace.
